How Can I Help?

Volunteer with ACTS!

ACTS is the only one-to-one, academic tutoring and faith-based mentoring program in Springfield. There is always a need for caring tutors to help our students thrive educationally and personally. Do you want to be a positive influence in a child’s life? Do you have 2 hours a week to volunteer during the school year? Then consider joining ACTS! We provide the training and support, you provide the academic guidance and your compassion, and the program itself provides a boost to our volunteer’s emotional well-being, confidence, and joy!

The main requirement is that you are a compassionate person who wants to help kids success academically and socially. You need to be available for an average of two hours per week with your student during the school year. Being able to communicate effectively with children is one of the most important qualities our tutors have.

Each program has an experienced Site Director, who is there to provide the materials you and your student need, as well as guidance and support at every session. In addition, ACTS provides tutors with an orientation and training before, and during, the school year. Tutors are also provided with a handbook that contains helpful hints, written guidelines, and other important information.
